Current #42: Big Pharma
Download audioThe first wing
Current #41 named the set. This page names one wing: Big Pharma. A corporation that turns a molecule into a code, and a code into a refill. A pill for an ill is the SKU the machine likes. That is the charter. It is not a plot.
A pill can save a boat. Antibiotics, insulin, anesthesia, a clot that had to open — rescue is real. Current #48 will say the same of the hospital. This page does not tell you to throw the bottle away. It tells you what the bottle is for on their books.
What they can sell
A night’s sleep cannot be patented. A walk cannot be filled. A company can own a formulation, a method, a dose form — even when the idea began in a plant or a food. “You cannot patent nature” is too clean. Isolated, formulated, billed: that is how a molecule becomes an account.
Science as a catalog
A trial can be a search for truth. A trial can also be how a SKU earns a seal. Look at who paid, what the control was, and which number made the ad. Current #48 will take the headline. This page only names the product behind it.
Insulin stays in the chair if a licensed professional who knows you put it there. Price and middlemen wait for Big Insurance. Do not stop, skip, or reduce a medicine from a Current.
How you keep it
See the wing. Keep the five. Food first is still Michael J. Gonzalez’s order. The shelf is named, not sold — Current #19. A bottle is not the Program.
Be brave enough to keep a tool without worshipping the catalog
You are not behind if a pill helped you. You are not too late if you want the mill fed first. Your mills are still minting every second of every day. Give them what they already know. Then decide, with help, what else belongs in the boat.
The question
Will you see Big Pharma as a charter that sells a pill for an ill — and still keep the rescue when the boat needs it? The answer is yours. You can take it. You can leave it. No one can take it for you.
If you take it, keep tonight’s five. Do not throw a prescribed bottle overboard from this page. That is Big Pharma, seen as business.
If you want to keep learning, keep flowing with our Currents. Big Medical is next.
